Colombian President Abelardo de la Esprieylla stated that he will personally oversee the recovery efforts.
It is noted that the earthquake was also felt in neighboring Ecuador.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy expressed his condolences regarding the casualties caused by the powerful earthquake in Colombia.
"Sad news about the earthquake in western Colombia, which also affected neighboring Ecuador. As of now, at least 25 people are known to have died, and there are people trapped under the rubble. Our condolences go out to the families of the victims and to all those affected. Any loss of life is terrible. We offer our full support and solidarity to the people of Colombia and to all those who have been struck by this tragedy," the head of state wrote on X.
He called on “everyone around the world who is able to support the people and countries affected right now to please help.”
