China and Egypt support efforts to reduce tensions in the Middle East
China and Egypt, in a joint statement, welcomed regional and international efforts to reduce tensions and promote dialogue in the Middle East. The document was released during Chinese President Xi Jinping's state visit to Egypt, ECNS reports.
Political understanding
The parties said they welcome efforts by countries in the region and the international community aimed at achieving political understanding. In the view of China and Egypt, it should take into account the concerns of all parties and contribute to peace and stability in the Persian Gulf and the Middle East.
The statement notes that easing tensions and intensifying dialogue could help achieve these goals. During Xi Jinping's visit, the two countries also issued a joint statement on further deepening their comprehensive strategic partnership.

China's and Egypt's assessments
China noted Egypt's role in promoting regional security and stability. The statement also refers to Egypt's ongoing efforts toward a comprehensive political settlement of geopolitical crises in the Middle East, the development of good-neighborly and friendly relations, as well as upholding respect for state sovereignty and the principle of non-interference in internal affairs.
Egypt, for its part, positively assessed Chinese President Xi Jinping's proposals on preserving and strengthening peace and stability in the Middle East.
