The Royal Navy monitored Russian ships near the British coast for three days.
The “intensive” 72-hour operation, which has only now been publicly disclosed, took place last week.
The focus was on four Russian ships sailing from the North Sea through the English Channel. The Russian destroyer Admiral Levchenko escorted the sanctioned cargo ships General Skobelev and Sparta toward Dover.
Their movements were monitored by the British ships HMS Duncan, HMS St Albans, and HMS Severn, and a helicopter was also deployed for aerial surveillance.
In response, Russia deployed the frigate “Neustrashimy.”
Recently, the British Navy warned of increased Russian activity in British waters. Military vessels frequently appear in the strait between Dover, UK, and Calais, France, as well as in the North Sea.
