One in ten members of the new State Duma of the Russian Federation is a Russian invader who fought in Ukraine

The new composition of the Russian State Duma will include 46 participants in the war against Ukraine. This represents 10.2% of the total number of deputies in the lower house of the Russian parliament.

The “United Russia” party elected the largest number of participants in the war to the State Duma. 

According to Pamfilova, 41 party representatives—who are considered participants in the so-called “special military operation”—received seats in the State Duma.

Previously, 38 such candidates were known. According to the publication “Important Stories,” most of the new deputies directly participated in combat operations, while others worked in the occupied territories, assisted the Russian military, or provided support to veterans.

Overall, according to Pamfilova, candidates from “United Russia” will receive 349 of the 450 seats in the State Duma.

The other parties received the following number of seats:

• CPRF – 37 seats;
• LDPR – 23 seats;
• “New People” – 19 seats;
• “Fair Russia” – 17 seats;
• independent candidates – four seats.

A representative of the “Batkivshchyna” party also made it into the new State Duma; it was at the request of this party that the Russian Supreme Court barred the “Yabloko” party from the election.

Ella Pamphilova also reported a record voter turnout of 59.8%. According to her, this is the highest figure in Russia’s modern history. The previous record, according to the Central Election Commission of the Russian Federation, was set during the 2003 State Duma elections.

At the same time, election analysts noted the unusually high turnout, which Russian election commissions began recording as early as the first day of voting.

According to “Important Stories,” at certain polling stations where turnout was reported to be close to 100%, the overwhelming majority of votes were allegedly cast for candidates from “United Russia.”

The publication also estimates that more than 18 million of the 30 million “paper” votes may have been invalid. This is an estimate by “Important Stories” and not an officially established election result.

This was stated by Ella Pamfilova, chairwoman of the Central Election Commission of the Russian Federation, at a CEC meeting summarizing the results of the State Duma elections.

According to the election results, 49 participants in the war against Ukraine will become State Duma deputies from the “United Russia” party. This was announced by the party’s General Council Secretary, Vladimir Yakushev. According to him, these are preliminary figures. Earlier, Yakushev had stated that 86 combatants could be elected to parliament from the party, but this statement was later retracted.

Vyacheslav Volodin will retain his position as Speaker of the Russian State Duma for the new convocation for a third consecutive term. The final decision will be formalized by dictator Vladimir Putin before the first plenary session.
