The Kremlin has lowered the regions' targets for United Russia's election results

The Office of the President of the Russian Federation has adjusted the regional targets for voter turnout and the “United Russia” party’s results in the upcoming State Duma elections due to the party’s falling approval ratings.

According to a Russian publication, the authorities decided to lower the expected figures to give the vote greater “legitimacy.” At the same time, the goal of maintaining a constitutional majority for the ruling party remains unchanged—to achieve this, it must secure more than 300 of the 450 parliamentary seats.

It is expected that in single-member districts, United Russia candidates could win between 190 and 210 seats, while the result based on party lists may turn out to be slightly below 50%.

In the 2021 State Duma elections, “United Russia” received 49.82% of the vote via party lists and won 324 seats in parliament.

As a reminder, the proposal for a direct meeting with Russian leader Vladimir Putin remains on the table, and all realistic options for ending the war have “long been on the table” in Moscow, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy stated on June 20, emphasizing his readiness for negotiations to end Russian aggression.

Foreign Minister Andriy Sibiga stated that the most effective way to force Russia to end the war against Ukraine is to deprive the Kremlin of the resources needed to continue its aggression.
