Latvia to provide Nepal with €100,000 in humanitarian aid
On September 8, the Latvian government approved a proposal by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to allocate €100,000 in humanitarian aid to Nepal to address the consequences of flooding.
Consequences of the disaster
The decision to provide financial assistance was made after devastating floods and landslides that occurred on August 26 and affected large areas along Nepal’s border with China. The disaster resulted in significant loss of life and extensive damage to transport, energy, water supply and communications infrastructure.

Nepal appealed for international assistance. More than 25 countries, including European Union member states, as well as several international organizations, are already providing support to the country, LSM English reports.
Search for missing Latvian citizens
Latvian citizens are among those considered missing. Latvia is cooperating with the relevant Nepalese authorities and consular offices of EU countries in the search for missing people.
