One Nation leader names net migration target after MP's statement
Australia's One Nation party clarified its migration policy after Farrer MP David Farley said on the Insiders program that the figure was about 230,000 people a year. Party leader Pauline Hanson said One Nation's net migration target is 130,000 people. According to her, this is less than half the government's current migration level.

Barnaby Joyce said on the Sunrise program that One Nation had meant a figure of 130,000 net migrants from the outset. He explained that this refers to the difference between the number of people arriving in the country and those leaving: the positive difference should be 130,000.
As ABC News Australia reports, Australia generally uses two migration measures: permanent migration and net overseas migration. The latter takes into account arrivals and departures of foreign nationals and Australians, excluding short-term travel.

Reactions to the MP's statement
Joyce said mistakes by new MPs in parliament are not unusual. Party director James Ashby said he had spoken with Farley and noted that people can make mistakes if they acknowledge them.
Meanwhile, Tanya Plibersek criticised One Nation's position. She said that if there are three party MPs in a room, one can hear three different migration programs.
