Lionsgate is working on a sequel to the biographical drama *Michael*, which chronicles the life and career of legendary American singer Michael Jackson.
The company is currently preparing a sequel to the film, which is set to continue the musician’s story.
The company hopes to begin production on the second biopic about the King of Pop in late 2026 or early 2027.
The film could be released in theaters at the end of next year or in the first half of 2028.
It is currently unknown which period of Jackson’s life the second film will cover. The film “Michael” chronicles the singer’s journey from frontman of the Jackson 5 to superstar status. The creators of the sequel may draw on material related, in particular, to his hit album *Dangerous* or the numerous allegations of child sexual abuse that haunted Jackson until the end of his life.
