Following his election victory, Péter Magyar, leader of the Tisa Party, called on officials appointed by Viktor Orbán to step down.
This was reported by Euronews.
He spoke in central Budapest before thousands of supporters and stated that Hungary would once again become a strong ally of Europe and NATO.
Mátyás announced his first foreign visits—to Poland, Austria, and Brussels.
According to him, in Brussels he plans to persuade the EU to unfreeze billions of euros in frozen funds.
The politician also promised to bring Hungary into the European Public Prosecutor’s Office and restore democratic institutions.
Separately, he called on the President of Hungary and other officials appointed during Orbán’s tenure to resign immediately.
As a reminder, according to the results of 98.93% of the votes counted, the “Tisa” party won 69.35% of the vote. This gives the opposition 138 seats in parliament, allowing it to form a constitutional majority on its own.
Trump declined to comment on the defeat of Orbán’s ally in the Hungarian elections.
