Princess Leonor of Asturias has successfully completed basic paratrooper training, becoming the first member of the Spanish royal family to master the art of skydiving. Not even her father, King Felipe VI, or her grandfather, Juan Carlos I, underwent this stage of military training.

It is reported that the training took place at the Parachute School in Murcia in the southeast of the country as an important supplement to the program at the Higher Academy of Air and Space Forces in San Javier.

The training program lasted two weeks and required the heir to the throne to give her all, just like the other cadets:

  • Physical fitness tests: The princess passed an intensive physical test.
  • Ground simulation: Cadets trained to jump from a high tower at the training ground to simulate a free fall.
  • Landing technique: Special attention was paid to lessons on proper body positioning upon contact with the ground.
  • Practical jumps: The program included actual jumps with automatic canopy deployment from a height of 400 meters, including at night.

Along with about 50 of her classmates from the Air Force, Army, Navy, and Civil Guard, Princess Leonor successfully passed her exams, receiving an official diploma and a paratrooper badge.

The parachuting course marked the culmination of the heiress’s three-year military training. Leonor began her military career at age 17 at the General Military Academy in Zaragoza, after which she spent several months on a training cruise with the Navy. Having completed her military education, the future queen will begin studying political science as a civilian major this September at the campus of Carlos III State University in Getafe (Madrid).

It should be noted that as the eldest daughter of King Felipe VI and Queen Letizia, Leonor is first in line to the throne. After her coronation, she will automatically assume the position of Supreme Commander of the Spanish Armed Forces.

This was reported by the Spanish newspaper "El Pais."

Earlier in France, the National Rally party submitted a motion of no confidence against the government following the approval of the country’s new energy strategy.

Four months before the elections in the German state of Saxony-Anhalt, the far-right party “Alternative for Germany” continues to gain support among voters. According to a new poll, the party maintains its lead with 41% of the vote and is significantly ahead of its closest competitors.
