One of the most famous medieval artifacts will be on display in the UK as part of a loan. The loan of the tapestry for the exhibition is intended to be a symbolic gesture of friendship between France and the United Kingdom.
During Macron’s visit, he is also expected to hold a bilateral meeting with Bernam. If it takes place, it will mark the first visit by a European Union leader to the United Kingdom during Bernam’s tenure. The visit will also coincide with the British Parliament’s return to work after the summer recess.
A British government official, speaking on condition of anonymity, said that Bernam is “eagerly awaiting” the French president’s arrival in London. Meanwhile, the Élysée Palace has not officially confirmed Macron’s trip.
Burnam Steps Up Foreign Policy Efforts
As Politico notes, the first few weeks after coming to power were largely devoted by Burnam to domestic issues in the United Kingdom. Among the main issues were the cost of living and overcrowding in British prisons.

During one of Bernam’s first phone calls with international leaders, he spoke with Macron. At that time, the British prime minister stated that he “looks forward to building a strong relationship between the United Kingdom and France to benefit people on both sides of the English Channel.” The anticipated meeting in London will provide an opportunity for the two leaders to continue these discussions in person.
