Milei heads to New York for UN General Assembly — Buenos Aires Times
Argentine President Javier Milei will travel from Buenos Aires to New York, United States, on September 21 to take part in the 81st UN General Assembly. According to the Buenos Aires Times, he is due to depart at 23:00 on Monday, with the delegation planning to arrive at John F. Kennedy International Airport at 9:30 on Tuesday.
On Wednesday, Milei is due to address the UN General Assembly for the third time as head of the Argentine state. Argentine media expect that the issue of sovereignty over the Malvinas Islands, which are called the Falkland Islands in the United Kingdom, may feature prominently in the speech amid diplomatic tensions between the countries.
Delegation and meeting with Rubio
Foreign Minister Pablo Quirno, Economy Minister Luis Caputo and Presidential Chief of Staff Karina Milei will travel to the United States with Milei.

On Tuesday, Milei is due to meet with U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio. According to Quirno, the Argentine side plans to raise Argentina's long-standing claim to sovereignty over the Malvinas Islands at the meeting. At the same time, local media report that no bilateral meeting between Milei and U.S. President Donald Trump is currently on the visit's schedule.
Programme in New York
The president's first event in New York is due to be a speech at the Orthodox Jewish school Yeshiva Darchei Torah, where he will receive the Ohev Yisrael award for his support for Israel. Milei has also scheduled meetings with Mexican economist Roberto Salinas and Columbia University professor Xavier Sala-i-Martin.
On Wednesday, the Argentine president will also speak at the Western Values, Economic Freedom & Strategic Security conference, meet with representatives of the Americas Society/Council of the Americas and executives of international companies, and in the evening meet with Rabbi Simon Jacobson. On Thursday, he is due to speak at the Economic Club of New York, after which he plans to depart for Buenos Aires at around 21:00. Arrival in the Argentine capital is scheduled for 8:30 on Friday.
