Miliband warns Iran over hostile activity in Britain — Jerusalem Post

UK Foreign Secretary Ed Miliband, during a meeting with Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly in New York, United States, said that London would not tolerate intimidation, threats or hostile activity linked to Iran on British territory. Call for de-escalation

According to the UK Foreign Office, the sides discussed the situation in the region, including the war in the Middle East, as well as efforts to restore freedom of navigation through the Strait of Hormuz. Miliband called on Tehran to choose de-escalation and diplomacy instead of continuing the war.

The head of the UK Foreign Office also stressed the importance of fully restoring freedom of navigation through the Strait of Hormuz. He warned that a prolonged disruption to traffic along this key maritime route could affect global security and economic stability.

Statements on cyber threats

During the talks, Miliband reiterated Britain's position on countering threats from Iran-linked groups, particularly those directed against the British Jewish community.

The warning came after the UK's National Cyber Security Centre stated that cyber actors linked to the Iranian state had used CHOSEN BRICK spyware. According to the centre, it was used to steal emails, messages and other confidential information through phishing campaigns on WhatsApp and Telegram platforms.
