UK Health Secretary Prepares to Resign to Challenge Starmer – The Times

British Health Secretary Wes Streeting is preparing to step down as Health Secretary and run for the leadership of the Labour Party. 

This was reported by The Times.

The minister may officially announce his decision as early as this Thursday. On the eve of the King’s speech, he held a brief meeting with the Prime Minister, during which he confirmed his intention to continue his political campaign. The minister’s allies claim that he is determined and is already consulting with fellow party members.

Currently, discussions regarding the nomination procedures are underway among Labour Party MPs. Some lawmakers are prepared to support Wes Streeting’s campaign if the process to remove the leader is initiated. This comes amid statements by Keir Starmer that he does not intend to voluntarily step down after the election.

On Tuesday, May 12, another junior member of the British government resigned and called on Prime Minister Keir Starmer to step down as leader of the Labour Party. The decision was made after the party suffered electoral losses in last week’s elections.

Already, 41 Labour Party MPs have publicly called on British Prime Minister Keir Starmer to step down as party leader.

Earlier, Starmer spoke of growing tensions in relations with the U.S.
