Moldova will receive more than 100 Roshel Senator armored vehicles as part of EU aid

Moldova will receive more than 100 Canadian Roshel Senator armored vehicles as part of defense assistance from the European Union, with deliveries scheduled to be completed by May 2027.

The project, valued at over 50 million euros, is funded through the European Peace Facility as a non-repayable grant, and the procurement is being carried out by the Estonian Defense Investment Center.

For the Moldovan army, this will represent a significant upgrade to its existing fleet of armored personnel carriers and armored vehicles, as well as the addition of an armored vehicle fleet that was previously lacking. The vehicle is built on a commercial Ford F-550 chassis, which reduces costs and simplifies production compared to traditional military platforms. This armored vehicle has already undergone extensive testing in the war in Ukraine, where it has become one of the most widely used Western armored platforms. Roshel has supplied Ukraine with over a thousand of these armored vehicles, and the experience gained from their use has influenced the development of more heavily protected variants, including an MRAP version with enhanced mine protection.

Meanwhile, Ukraine will receive 50 ACSV 8x8 armored personnel carriers from Canada; the first 10 vehicles will arrive in Germany in early summer.

Canada will also transfer 450 SkyRanger multi-purpose unmanned aerial vehicles to Ukraine, and Lithuania will allocate 3 million euros for FPV drones. The transfer process is set to begin this summer.

Canada is ready to support NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg’s proposal to establish a 100-billion fund to support Ukraine over the next five years.
