Munir declares determination to defeat terrorism in Pakistan — Dawn
Pakistan’s Chief of Defence Forces and Army Chief Field Marshal Asim Munir, during a visit to the corps headquarters in Peshawar, stated that the armed forces are determined to defeat terrorism and ensure lasting peace and stability in the country. This was reported by Dawn, citing Pakistan’s Inter-Services Public Relations.
Situation in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa
According to the military media department, Munir was briefed during the trip on the security situation in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province, ongoing counterterrorism operations, border management measures, and the operational readiness of units deployed in the province.
The field marshal noted the high morale, readiness and professionalism of the service members, as well as their commitment to protecting the country and its population. He instructed the military to remain vigilant and maintain the highest standards of operational readiness.

Honouring the memory of the fallen
Munir also laid a wreath at the Yadgar-e-Shuhada memorial and recited Fatiha, a Muslim prayer. He honoured the memory of those killed, stressing that their sacrifices would not be forgotten.
The visit took place several days after a large-scale attack in the Old Police Lines area in Kohat, in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province. According to Dawn, 23 people were killed and about 100 others were injured. Eight militants were reportedly killed during a nighttime operation to clear the area.
On Monday, Pakistan’s information ministry stated that the armed forces had carried out airstrikes on militant facilities in an area bordering Afghanistan and killed more than 28 militants. According to the ministry, the strikes targeted hideouts and safe havens of terrorist organisations that it linked to the recent attacks in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. A ground operation based on intelligence was also reported in Kohat and Hangu.
