The UK Foreign Office summoned Iran's ambassador over calls for violence on social media

The British Foreign Office summoned the Iranian ambassador in London over "unacceptable and provocative comments" made by the Iranian embassy on social media.

This was reported by the British Foreign Office.

Hamish Falcooner, Minister for the Middle East, stressed that the embassy must immediately cease any communication that could be interpreted as incitement to violence, both within the UK and internationally.

According to the Metro, the diplomatic protest was prompted by posts on the embassy’s Telegram channel, where the Iranian diaspora was called upon to “give their lives” for a new campaign to “defend Iranian soil.” The British Foreign Office added that the government will continue to criticize the regime in Tehran for its malicious activities on British soil, attacks on allies in the Persian Gulf, and repression against its own people.

The incident occurred against the backdrop of a general escalation of tensions in the Middle East and the military conflict in Iran, which threatens the stability of global energy markets. Britain, acting in coordination with its partners, is increasing pressure on the Iranian authorities to de-escalate tensions. Official London has emphasized that it will not tolerate attempts by foreign states to radicalize the population or threaten the safety of citizens on British territory.

Iran has again restricted ship traffic through the Strait of Hormuz following the conflict with the U.S. Tehran claims this is a response to Washington’s actions.

Trump stated that the US wants to obtain Iranian uranium by any means necessary.
