A corn maze shaped like the island has been created on the Estonian island of Saaremaa
On the Estonian island of Saaremaa, a maze replicating the shape of the island has been created in a cornfield belonging to the Kärla agricultural cooperative. The entire route can be walked at a brisk pace in less than an hour, according to ERR News.
The length of the maze route is 1.7 kilometers. By comparison, Saaremaa’s coastline stretches over 870 kilometers. During their walk, visitors can virtually visit such places on the island as Panga Cliff, Orissaare, and Kuressaare.

Jular Tyanak, head of the Kärla cooperative, explained that the maze’s outline was not cut into the field after the corn had grown. The areas designated for the maze and walking paths were left unplanted back in the spring, and a seeder and GPS were used to ensure precise placement.
According to Tjanak, the farmers had been watching the progress since spring and did not expect the maze to turn out this way. They also did not anticipate such a large number of visitors: the parking lot turned out to be too small to handle the influx of cars. According to the cooperative’s director, the field could remain intact until mid-October.
