Police find birds in illegal nets in Cyprus — Cyprus Mail
Police officers in Cyprus found 115 birds in the Larnaca district that, according to police, had been illegally caught in nets. The nets were placed in an area of the district where hunting is prohibited. Cyprus Mail reports, citing a police statement released on Sunday.
Discrepancy in the figures
According to the publication, police said that 115 birds were found. At the same time, the report states that 105 birds were alive and 12 were dead. These figures add up to 117, so the data provided by Cyprus Mail on the number of birds are inconsistent.
The live birds were released back into the wild.

Nets and sound devices
In addition to the birds, law enforcement officers found seven nets and three sound devices. According to Cyprus Mail, these devices played the calls of wild birds.
