US and Italy sign memorandum on critical minerals — Anadolu Agency
US Secretary of State Marco Rubio and Italian Foreign Minister Antonio Tajani signed a memorandum of understanding on critical minerals in New York, US. The ceremony took place on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly, Anadolu Agency reports.
US-Italy cooperation
During the ceremony, Rubio called Italy “a great partner.” According to him, the US and Italy are closely cooperating on critical minerals, and this issue is being continuously considered. The secretary of state also said that Washington wants to continue working with Rome.

Italy’s position
Tajani said that the memorandum is an important element of Italy’s strategy and industrial policy. He noted that Italy is Europe’s second-largest industrial country and ranks fourth in the world in terms of trade volume.
According to the head of the Italian Foreign Ministry, raw material prices are of great importance for a country seeking to compete internationally. He added that lower raw material costs are important to achieving this goal, and that the agreement with the US is an important step forward.
