For the first time in five years, Germany has deported a migrant with no criminal record to Afghanistan
For the first time since the Taliban came to power in Afghanistan, Germany has deported an Afghan citizen with no criminal record. He was among 31 Afghans who were returned to their homeland on July 28.
According to German Interior Minister Alexander Dobrindt, the man lost his right to remain in the country after his asylum application was definitively denied. He later resided illegally in another European country and was deported upon his return to Germany.
The rest of those deported had criminal convictions. According to the minister, among them were individuals convicted of serious crimes, including murder, rape, and acts of violence.
The German Interior Ministry stated that future deportations to Afghanistan may involve not only convicted criminals but also other foreigners who have lost their legal grounds for staying in the country.
