Odessa resident sentenced to 25 years in Turkey for killing robbers
Odessa resident Dmitry Chaban was sentenced to 25 years in prison in Turkey for killing two robbers who attacked him and stole €35,000, ArbatMedia reports.
According to the case file, two men attacked Dmitry Chaban while he was in his car, smashing the window, opening fire, and stealing a bag containing a large sum of money. The robbers then attempted to flee on a scooter.
The investigation revealed that Chaban pursued the attackers, driving after them until he caught up and crashed into their scooter. Both robbers died at the scene.
While the court acknowledged that Chaban had been attacked, it ruled that he exceeded the limits of permissible self-defense. As a result, he was found guilty and sentenced to 25 years in prison.
