US Embassy Urges Americans Not to Travel to Venezuela or Border Areas
The US Embassy in Bogotá says it is monitoring reports of explosions in and around Caracas and has reiterated its warning for US citizens not to travel to Venezuela. In a security notice, the embassy advised Americans currently in the country to depart as soon as it is safe to do so.
Venezuela remains under a Level 4 “Do Not Travel” advisory — the highest warning level. US citizens are advised to avoid travel to the country and its border regions, shelter in place if already there, and maintain multiple lines of communication with family and contacts outside Venezuela.
The statement also recalled that in 2019 the United States withdrew all diplomatic personnel from its embassy in Caracas and suspended operations. The situation continues to evolve, and guidance may be updated as conditions change.
