Top U.S. General Admits Russia Is Helping Iran in the War — The Guardian

General Dan Kane, Chairman of the U.S. Joint Chiefs of Staff, confirmed that the Kremlin has provided military aid to Tehran. During Senate hearings, the high-ranking official noted that Russia is assisting Iran in its confrontation with U.S. forces, but declined to disclose details due to the classified nature of the information.

The Guardian reported this, emphasizing that such cooperation is aimed at undermining U.S. strategic initiatives and security efforts in the region.

Republican Senator Roger Wicker supported the general’s conclusions, stating that Vladimir Putin’s actions are intended to directly hinder the success of U.S. missions. According to Wicker, Russia is taking serious measures to destabilize the situation surrounding Iran, which indicates a deepening military alliance between the two countries. This statement came amid a general escalation in the Middle East and the growing role of Russian technology in local conflicts.

Although specific types of weapons or intelligence were not publicly named, Kane emphasized that cooperation between Moscow and Tehran is evident and active. U.S. lawmakers expressed concern that such support could include air defense systems, electronic warfare capabilities, or assistance in circumventing sanctions to finance military operations. A more detailed report on this cooperation is expected to be presented to the relevant committee during a closed-door session.

Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Arakchi visited Russia on Monday, April 27, to meet with Putin.

Prior to this, U.S. President Donald Trump stated that Iran has repeatedly violated the ceasefire since it was established between Washington and Tehran. According to Trump, there have been numerous incidents that cast doubt on Iran’s compliance with the ceasefire agreements.

Trumpexpressed his willingness to meet personally with Iran’s new leadership.

US President Donald Trump also announced progress in negotiations with Iran, under which Washington would allegedly receive all of Tehran’s enriched uranium without any financial payments.
