Ghana’s Office of the Registrar of Companies opens Risk Awareness Week — MyJoyOnline
In Accra, Ghana, the Office of the Registrar of Companies (ORC) has opened Risk Awareness Week 2026. During the event, staff were urged not only to identify risk-related problems but also to take responsibility for preventing them. The four-day programme runs from September 22 to 25 and is intended to strengthen the understanding of risk management across all directorates and zonal offices, MyJoyOnline reports.
Responsibility of departments
The event’s theme is “Building a Risk-Aware ORC: Strengthening Resilience, Accountability and Service Excellence.” Registrar of Companies Maame Samma Peprah stressed that risk management cannot be the responsibility of only one department or a separate group of employees.
According to her, staff in directorates and zonal offices must help protect the institution’s resources and reputation, as well as support quality service delivery. She noted that the public relies on the ORC for company registration, accurate records, compliance services and timely support.

Peprah called on heads of directorates, zonal offices and units to understand the risks in their areas of work, oversee the implementation of agreed risk mitigation measures, support discussions on these matters and report emerging issues.
Week’s programme
Head of Internal Audit and Risk Coordinator Prince Kakah said the ORC’s governing board aims to integrate the risk management system into the institution’s day-to-day operations. The week’s activities include an opening ceremony and staff meetings, risk discussions in directorates, an awareness campaign, a lecture on health, well-being and organisational resilience, as well as an educational symposium and an awards ceremony.
On the final day, the ORC plans to recognise employees and teams that demonstrate proper risk management practices. Deputy Registrar of Companies Benjamin Zighorsh-Nyakpenu, heads of directorates and other ORC staff attended the opening. Representatives of offices in Kumasi, Sunyani, Sekondi and Tamale joined remotely.
