Oman offers Indian businesses ports for access to the Middle East — NDTV
At a roadshow in New Delhi, India, Oman offered Indian manufacturers and companies the use of its ports, free zones and industrial zones to access markets in the Middle East and other regions. The two-day event focused on manufacturing, distribution and logistics opportunities through Oman, NDTV World reports.
Sohar Port and Free Zone
Oman's Ambassador to India, Issa Saleh Abdullah Alshibani, said that the embassy brings stakeholders from Oman to events in India to present the country and its commercial infrastructure. According to him, Sohar Port and most Omani ports are becoming important gateways for expanding Indian manufacturing in Oman, the Middle East and the wider region.
Roadshow participants were introduced to the integrated ecosystem of SOHAR Port and Freezone, investment opportunities in industrial sectors and infrastructure for companies operating from Oman. According to the organizers, the complex has attracted more than $30 billion in total investment and handles over 72 million tonnes of cargo annually.

Economic partnership
Hiten Mehta, co-chair of ASSOCHAM's National Council for Special Economic and Industrial Zones, called the event timely following the entry into force of the Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement between India and Oman on June 1, 2026. According to him, the roadshow gives Indian investors an opportunity to learn about Omani companies, special and free economic zones, infrastructure and market opportunities.
The program also included B2B meetings on specific investment opportunities, potential partnerships and expanding the presence of Indian companies through Oman. Alshibani said that the country seeks to demonstrate stability, growth in foreign direct investment and its attractiveness to investors focused on the Omani and wider regional markets.
