Ooni of Ife and his wife show twins after traditional rites
The Ooni of Ife, Adeyeye Ogunwusi, and his wife Mariam Ajibola presented their twin sons to the public at the Ile-Oodua Palace in Ile-Ife, Nigeria. This happened after the completion of traditional rites established for the birth of children in the royal family, Premium Times Nigeria reports.
The twins’ names
The first brother, Taiwo, was named Adelowo, Adelanaire, Adejare, Adedunmininu and Ademola. The second twin, Kehinde, received the names Adelẹye, Adelanaola, Adejuwon, Adedoyin and Adebola.
According to palace representatives, Ogunwusi first announced these names at the twins’ naming ceremony on May 24. He announced their birth on social media in March.

Traditional rites
Senior palace media officer Sodik Lawal shared a statement on behalf of Moses Olafare, the director of media and public relations. According to him, Ile-Ife tradition requires the Ooni to observe prescribed rites before seeing a newborn child of the royal family.
The palace stated that during the ceremony, Ogunwusi saw and held his sons for the first time since their birth. Traditional rulers, officials, family members and other guests attended the event, including former Minister of State for Water Resources Bashir Awotorebo and Kogi State Government Secretary Folashade Ayoade.
Mariam Ajibola, whom Ogunwusi married in 2022, previously worked in the oil and gas sector. She is from the Ebira people in Kogi State.
