A poll has revealed who could lead the Labour Party in place of Starmer – Sky News

Greater Manchester Mayor Andy Burnham has emerged as the frontrunner among Labour Party members to become the party’s leader.

This is according to the results of a YouGov poll published by Sky News. If an internal party contest begins, 47 percent of those surveyed are ready to support his candidacy.

Incumbent Prime Minister Keir Starmer came in second in the poll, receiving 31 percent support, while former Health Secretary Wes Streeting garnered only 4 percent. In a head-to-head matchup between Strutting and Bernam, the latter would win decisively with 80 percent of the vote to 10 percent. The survey also showed a decline in confidence in the country’s current head of government.

Only twenty-eight percent of respondents expressed the opinion that Starmer should retain his position and lead the party into the next election. The survey of voter sentiment was conducted between May 14 and 18, with 706 party members participating. The results indicate a strong demand for leadership renewal within the organization.

Prior to this, a former British minister had expressed his willingness to replace Starmer.

Earlier, Starmer had noted growing tensions in relations with the United States.
