Fuel shortage panic grips Britain amid long queues and rising concern

Britain is currently facing a fuel shortage panic, with authorities urging drivers to remain calm. Following government warnings, many began stockpiling petrol and diesel, causing fuel reserves in some regions to plunge to 20% of the usual levels.

The number of drivers fueling up beyond normal has increased by around 50% compared to last week. At petrol stations in London and major cities, queues stretch up to 1.5 kilometers, leading to an additional 10 to 15 minutes spent per refuel.

The Department for Transport notes the situation may stabilise by the end of the week if fuel supply levels do not fall below 15% of the normal reserve. Experts stress that panic buying only worsens the shortage.

Beyond fuel, the UK is also anticipating food supply issues. Tomatoes and cucumbers, typically grown in gas-powered greenhouses, face shortages due to rising gas prices. Meanwhile, the British Prime Minister refrains from attempting to end the war, as reports suggest US plans for bombing Iran do not include providing airbases.

This unfolding crisis highlights the interconnectedness of energy, supply chains, and geopolitical decisions during times of global instability. The government is expected to work diligently to alleviate impacts and restore supply stability in the coming weeks.
