The suspect in the attempted assassination of Yermolayev fled from Monaco to Germany
Investigators in Monaco believe that 39-year-old Ukrainian Anastasia Berezovskaya, who is suspected of attempting to assassinate businessman Vadim Yermolayev and his family, left the principality after the explosion and fled to Germany.
Anastasia Berezovska has been placed on an international wanted list via an Interpol “red notice.”
She is suspected of attempted murder, criminal conspiracy, and placing an explosive device in a public place with criminal intent.
According to investigators, the suspect left a package near a building in Monaco and then remotely detonated the explosive device when three people approached the site.
After the explosion, the woman made her way on foot into France and later left in a car rented in Germany. According to the prosecutor’s office, her route took her through several European countries, including Italy, after which she returned to Germany.
Later, according to a source in Monaco’s judicial circles, the suspect was spotted in Frankfurt.
Morgan Raymond stated that the complexity of organizing the explosion suggests that Berezovskaya did not act alone.
“The complexity of the attack led investigators to conclude that the suspect likely did not act alone,” he noted.
According to the prosecutor, two people were detained in Monaco earlier this week, but were released after investigative procedures were conducted.
The explosion occurred on June 29 at around 9:00 p.m. Three people were injured in the incident, two of whom sustained very serious injuries.
According to media reports, the victims are Ukrainian businessman Vadym Yermolayev, who is subject to sanctions, and his relatives; however, the Monaco prosecutor’s office has not officially confirmed their identities.
Earlier, there were also unofficial reports that investigators were allegedly considering various theories, including the possible involvement of Ukrainian special services in the explosion. However, Monaco’s law enforcement agencies have not provided any official confirmation of this information.
Vadym Yermolayev is a businessman from Dnipro, the founder of the “Alef” trade and manufacturing corporation, and one of the city’s largest real estate developers. Over the years, he has been ranked among the 100 richest people in Ukraine. In 2019, the businessman renounced his Ukrainian citizenship and obtained Cypriot citizenship.
This was reported by Monaco’s Deputy Prosecutor Morgan Raymond, according to Reuters.
