North Korea and Belarus have signed a treaty on friendship and expanded cooperation. The document was signed during an official meeting between the leaders of the two countries in Pyongyang.

North Korean leader Kim Jong Un and Belarus’s self-proclaimed president, Alexander Lukashenko, took part in the talks. The meeting took place on March 26 and marked another step toward strengthening bilateral relations.
The parties signed a series of agreements covering diplomatic cooperation, as well as collaboration in the fields of agriculture, education, and healthcare.
During the talks, Kim Jong-un emphasized that Lukashenko’s visit is of great importance for the development of the partnership between the countries. In turn, the Belarusian leader stated that relations between the states are “developing at a very rapid pace” and highlighted their shared positions on international issues.
The signing of the agreement may signal a further deepening of political and economic cooperation between the two countries amid global geopolitical shifts.
