Transformer donated by ex-governor Kwankwaso remains uninstalled in Nigeria for a year
In the Mai-Gizo community in Angwan-Shamaki, Keffi Local Government Area of Nasarawa State, Nigeria, a transformer donated by former Kano State governor Rabiu Kwankwaso has still not been installed a year after it was handed over. Community residents are still waiting for access to electricity.
The equipment is lying on the ground
As Premium Times Nigeria reports, Kwankwaso handed over the transformer after allegedly noticing the lack of electricity while passing through the settlement. The community is located near the National Youth Service Corps camp in Keffi.
Community leader Idris Bello said that the politician delivered the equipment less than 24 hours after promising to provide it. According to him, the transformer is still lying on the ground awaiting installation.

Funds were insufficient for installation
Bello also said that Wadada Aliyu, a candidate of the All Progressives Congress party in Nasarawa State, provided 1 million Nigerian naira for the installation of the transformer. At the same time, he said that the funds were insufficient to complete the work.
Community representatives sought assistance from state authorities. Bello said that residents have lived without electricity for about three years, while the equipment is being guarded against theft or vandalism. Residents and other community representatives called on Nasarawa State Governor Abdullahi Sule to intervene and provide the funds needed to install the transformer.
