Poland to Disclose Aid to Ukraine Following Allegations of a Secret Transfer of Patriot Missiles

Polish Defense Minister Władysław Kosiniak-Kamysz, following consultations with Prime Minister Donald Tusk, ordered the declassification of all military aid provided to Ukraine between 2022 and 2026.

The head of the Defense Ministry emphasized that this process was initiated by the previous PiS government under the leadership of Mariusz Błaszczak, and that the head of state—previously Andrzej Duda and now incumbent President Karol Nawrocki—was always informed of all equipment deliveries.

In addition, the Military Counterintelligence Service has been tasked with investigating deliberate attempts to disclose state secrets, as actions against national interests in the context of war near the borders threaten the safety of citizens.

The decision to release the information was a direct response to statements by the Polish opposition regarding the covert transfer of weapons to Kyiv. In particular, Krzysztof Bosak, Deputy Speaker of the Sejm and leader of the right-wing “Confederation” party, accused the government of secretly providing Ukraine with expensive interceptor missiles for Patriot systems in March of this year. According to the opposition politician, these missiles were purchased directly from the United States to develop Poland’s own multi-layered air defense system and are the only means at the Polish Army’s disposal capable of intercepting Russian “Iskander” ballistic missiles.
