Victor Miller, author of *Friday the 13th*, has died

American screenwriter Victor Miller, who wrote the screenplay for the first installment of the cult horror franchise *Friday the 13th*, has died at the age of 86.

His son, Jan Miller, announced his death on August 30. The family has not yet disclosed the cause or circumstances of his death. The screenwriter is survived by his wife, two sons, and a grandson.

Miller wrote the screenplay for the original *Friday the 13th*, which was released in 1980. Sean Cunningham’s film launched one of the most famous series in the slasher genre.

In addition to his work in film, Miller was a screenwriter for television projects. He won three Emmy Awards for his work on the series *All My Children*.

A memorial service for the screenwriter is scheduled for November—the ceremony will take place on Friday the 13th.

As a reminder, on August 15, artist and vytynanka master Daria Alyoshkina died suddenly in Lviv at the age of 45. Her works represented Ukraine in 22 countries around the world, adorned the UN headquarters, and the artist herself collaborated with the renowned brand Cartier.

Earlier, the well-known Russian chanson singer Mikhail Gulko passed away.
