French Embassy Trains Ghana Police Anti-Terrorism Unit — MyJoyOnline
In Ghana, the French Embassy conducted a two-week intensive counter-terrorism course for officers of the country’s Police Counter Terrorism Unit. The training was aimed at strengthening law enforcement officers’ preparedness for evolving threats in West Africa.
Tactical and operational training
Course participants underwent intensive tactical and operational training to improve their effectiveness during counter-terrorism operations. The program was part of security cooperation between France and Ghana and was intended to develop the unit officers’ professional skills and increase their preparedness for modern challenges.

At the closing ceremony, Director-General in charge of Special Duties, Deputy Commissioner of Police Raymond Ali Adofiem, urged participants not to limit themselves to receiving certificates. He emphasized the need to continue training, practicing skills, sharing acquired knowledge, maintaining physical fitness, equipment, and discipline.
Thanks to the French side
Adofiem also thanked the French government, the French Embassy, and the instructors for supporting the counter-terrorism partnership. As a sign of gratitude, the trainees presented traditional Ghanaian fugu smocks and headgear to the French officials who conducted the training. Officials at the ceremony described the course as successful, noting the police officers’ discipline and dedication throughout the program.
