The British Prime Minister supported the idea of adopting a constitution in the country

British Prime Minister Andy Burnham has spoken out in support of the idea of adopting a written (codified) constitution for the country. Currently, Britain does not have a constitution.

The official announced this shortly after taking office, emphasizing that his ambitious program to decentralize power in favor of the regions logically leads the country toward a new constitutional framework.

Burnham noted that the absence of a single foundational document deprives the regions of authority and forces citizens to fight for their fundamental rights. Currently, Britain remains one of the few countries in the world governed by case law, individual statutes, and international treaties.

According to experts, developing a new, clear set of governing principles and codifying the constitution will require a process spanning many years and broad public debate.
