Chinese Premier Li Qiang calls for open digital trade — ECNS
Chinese Premier Li Qiang spoke at the opening ceremony of the Fifth Global Digital Trade Expo in Hangzhou, Zhejiang Province, on September 24. He called on countries to develop mutual trust, cooperation, and openness in the digital economy, ECNS reports.
Call for cooperation
Li Qiang stated that major technological innovations throughout history have contributed to greater openness in the world. According to him, amid accelerated digitalization, the trend toward economic globalization is irreversible, while mutual distrust and policies under which countries seek to benefit at the expense of others have no prospects.
The Chinese premier also called on the international community to strengthen cooperation between countries of the North and South in digital trade. He stressed the need to support developing countries, particularly in access to technology, infrastructure development, and personnel training.

Investment and market access
Li Qiang stated that China will continue to deepen trade and economic cooperation with other parties and promote the recovery and growth of the global economy. He also described companies as an important driving force in digital trade and invited enterprises from other countries to make long-term investments in the Chinese market.
According to the premier, China will fully apply national treatment to foreign-invested enterprises, address their legitimate concerns, and create conditions for doing business and business development in the country.
