Prime Minister Burnham did not attend a wedding at the No 10 North building
UK Prime Minister Andy Burnham did not attend the wedding of Sarah Berwin and her husband Fred, which took place at Manchester’s Heron House building. It houses the No 10 North government headquarters and the city registration office.
The bride’s request
In July, Berwin posted a video on TikTok asking the prime minister not to work in the building on her wedding day, August 21. She feared that the presence of police, bollards and the prime minister’s security would make it difficult to take wedding photographs near the registration office. The video received nearly 1.5 million views.
The bride said Burnham himself would be a welcome guest, but asked him to give the security team “an hour off.” Later, she jokingly suggested that the prime minister perform a DJ set at the celebration after the ceremony.

A video message for the newlyweds
As The Guardian reports, Burnham sent the newlyweds a video message. He said he was fulfilling Berwin’s original request “not to get in the way” and was recording the message before leaving No 10 North for the day.
The prime minister wished the couple a wonderful celebration, thanked them for their humor about No 10 North’s role in their wedding day and said the DJ set would have to be postponed. In response, Berwin said: “Oh my God. What a star. I love him!”
Burnham opened No 10 North in the first days after becoming prime minister, fulfilling a promise made before he succeeded Keir Starmer. The structure is part of the new Office of the Prime Minister and is expected, among other things, to focus on economic growth policy across the country.
