Stephen Walt, a professor of international relations at Harvard University, said that US President Donald Trump has, in his view, exhausted his options for action in the war with Iran. In an interview with Al Jazeera English, Walt said that Trump’s unpredictability does not strengthen the US position, as the Iranians have no reason to believe his words.

He linked this to the fact that neither the Democratic nor the Republican Party in the United States is prepared to exert pressure on Israel.
