Slovenian Prime Minister urges EU investigation into Black Cube election interference

Slovenian Prime Minister Robert Golob has called on European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen to investigate reports that Israeli intelligence-analytic firm Black Cube interfered in the country’s election campaign. Golob described this foreign involvement as a clear hybrid threat to Slovenian democracy.

Earlier, Slovenian authorities revealed that four employees of the private Israeli intelligence company Black Cube, founded by former members of the Israeli military, had visited the country. According to officials, they engaged in illegal surveillance and wiretapping activities in Ljubljana.

Black Cube is a private intelligence firm specialising in investigative analysis, founded by former Israeli military personnel. The company conducts investigations for clients across various sectors, including political and business spheres.

This case raises serious concerns about the security of electoral processes and highlights the need for international oversight and countermeasures against hybrid political threats.

Going forward, the European Commission and Slovenian law enforcement agencies are expected to carry out a thorough inquiry, the results of which could have significant implications for Slovenia’s political landscape and the wider region.
