President Erdoğan says Turkey’s defense industry is undergoing a revolution — Anadolu Agency
Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan said on October 3, during the TEKNOFEST Southeast aviation and technology festival in Şanlıurfa, that the country is carrying out a “complete revolution” in its defense industry. This was reported by Anadolu Agency.
According to Erdoğan, Türkiye continues to achieve success in this field and plans to strengthen its position through new platforms with high competitiveness and added value. He also said that Türkiye helps meet the defense needs of friendly countries upon request.
Defense sector data
Erdoğan said that more than 4,500 companies and over 100,000 people are working on projects in the air, land, sea and space domains under the coordination of the Secretariat of Defence Industries.

The president also said that Türkiye had previously depended on foreign sources for 80% of its defense sector needs, while it now ranks 11th in the world by defense product export volume.
Defense product exports
According to figures cited by Erdoğan, the country exported $511.4 million worth of defense and aerospace products in August. From January through August, exports in these sectors reached $6.3 billion, 16.2% more than in the same period of the previous year.
Speaking in Şanlıurfa, the president called the city a worthy venue for TEKNOFEST because of its millennia-old scientific, cultural and civilizational heritage. He mentioned, in particular, the ancient site of Göbekli Tepe and scholars associated with the region.
