Iran's president may resign due to a conflict with the IRGC

Iranian media, citing anonymous sources, reported that President Masoud Pezeshkian has allegedly resigned due to the escalating conflict between the government and security forces.

This was reported by Iran International.

According to the sources, Pezeshkian sent a letter to the office of Iran’s Supreme Leader Mojtaba Khamenei, in which he expressed dissatisfaction with the growing influence of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) on government decision-making.

The president reportedly stated that key decisions are increasingly being made by IRGC commanders rather than civilian authorities. He also allegedly expressed concern that the country is deviating from its declared political course.

According to reports, Pezeshkian concluded that he cannot effectively fulfill his duties as head of state under conditions where the government’s powers are restricted and it is excluded from making strategic decisions.

According to sources, tensions between the president and representatives of the security establishment have persisted over the past few months and were linked to issues of security and economic policy. One of the main causes of the disagreements cited is differing approaches to waging war and its impact on the economy and the well-being of the population.

There is currently no official confirmation of the Iranian president’s resignation.

Earlier, Iran and the U.S. exchangedaccusations following new strikes.

The day before, U.S. President Donald Trump announced significant progress in negotiations with Tehran, noting that as part of a potential agreement, Iran could transfer its highly enriched uranium to the United States.

Iran’s Supreme Leader has bannedthe transfer of enriched uranium.
