UAE President offers condolences to Dubai ruler — The National

In the UAE, President Sheikh Mohamed offered condolences to the country's Vice President and Ruler of Dubai, Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid, over the death of his brother, Sheikh Ahmed bin Rashid. This was reported by The National.

Funeral in Dubai

Sheikh Ahmed bin Rashid died on September 21. Following funeral prayers at the Grand Zabeel Mosque, he was buried at Umm Hurair Cemetery in Dubai.

Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid performed prayers for his brother at the Grand Zabeel Mosque. He was joined by Dubai Crown Prince Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed and First Deputy Ruler of Dubai Sheikh Maktoum bin Mohammed.

Condolences to the Ruler of Dubai were also offered by the rulers of Sharjah, Fujairah, Umm Al Quwain and Ras Al Khaimah, as well as UAE Vice President, Deputy Prime Minister and Chairman of the Presidential Court Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed. The meeting at the Zabeel majlis was attended by the crown princes of Abu Dhabi, Sharjah, Ajman, Fujairah, Umm Al Quwain and Ras Al Khaimah, as well as other sheikhs, ministers, officials and citizens.

Days of mourning

Ten days of mourning were declared in Dubai. The receiving of condolences began at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday and, according to the publication, was to continue on Wednesday and Thursday: in the morning from 10:00 a.m. until the noon prayer, and in the evening from the afternoon prayer until the evening prayer.

Sheikh Ahmed bin Rashid was deputy chairman of Dubai Police and chairman of ARM Holding Group, a private UAE investment company. He was also president of Al Wasl Sports Club, founded the Jebel Ali Racecourse in 1990, and contributed to the club's successes for decades.
