The Czech president and prime minister will represent the country separately at the NATO summit

After nearly half a year of dispute between the Czech government and the president over the format of participation in the NATO summit in Ankara, the country’s representatives are heading to the event in two separate delegations. President Petr Pavel secured his participation in the summit thanks to a decision by the Constitutional Court. At the same time, the Czech government decided that Prime Minister Andrej Babiš will lead the official state delegation.

Prime Minister Andrej Babiš will participate in both key events of the Alliance summit—the informal dinner and the North Atlantic Council meeting. Prague Castle has not yet officially released the schedule of events involving President Pavel. The official government delegation also includes Foreign Minister Petr Matinka, Defense Minister Jaromír Zuna, and Government Representative for NATO Affairs Jakub Landovský.
