Chinese and US presidents agree on eight outcomes of visit — ECNS

In the United States, Chinese President Xi Jinping and US President Donald Trump agreed on eight outcomes of talks during the Chinese leader’s state visit. As ECNS reports, citing a published statement, the sides said they intend to build constructive China-US relations of strategic stability based on respect, fairness and reciprocity.

APEC, G20 and Iran

According to the statement, the leaders agreed to support China’s hosting of the APEC Economic Leaders’ Meeting in November 2026 and the G20 Leaders’ Summit in the United States in December. They also expressed their intention to attend the events hosted by their countries.

Regarding Iran, Xi Jinping and Trump agreed that Tehran must fulfill its commitment not to develop nuclear weapons. They also stated that no country or institution should charge transit fees for passage through international waterways.

Trade, AI and security

On the eve of the visit, Chinese and US economic and trade teams completed another round of consultations in New York. The presidents noted the role of the trade and economic consultation mechanism and instructed that the results achieved be implemented. The statement listed among them the establishment and promotion of a trade council, an agreement on the mutual reduction of tariffs worth $30 billion, and the continuation of the achievements of the consultations in Kuala Lumpur.

The sides also positively assessed cooperation between law enforcement agencies in combating drugs. According to the statement, they jointly solved several cases involving new psychoactive substances and precursors and detained dozens of suspects in both countries.

China and the United States agreed to establish a dialogue on artificial intelligence to discuss the technology’s risks and benefits; the next round is to take place in November. The sides also plan to create a communication channel for incidents related to artificial intelligence. Separately, the militaries of the two countries agreed to sign as soon as possible a memorandum on strengthening crisis communication and preventing crises, as well as to continue searching in China for the remains of US military personnel. The statement also noted that the US side welcomes the arrival of two giant pandas leased by China to Zoo Atlanta.
