Karachi University professor forgives suspect — Dawn
In Karachi, Pakistan, Professor Muhammad Arif Saki, a lecturer at the University of Karachi, has forgiven Konain Shah, the main suspect in the case concerning an attack on him and his nephew following a road accident. This was reported by Dawn.
Out-of-court settlement
According to Saki, Shah, who was released on bail in two cases filed against him, his father and father-in-law, came to the professor's home with his father and father-in-law and apologized. The professor confirmed that the parties had settled the matter out of court.
Saki explained that he decided to file a police complaint because he believed it was necessary to speak out against unfair treatment. He also said that he would feel partly responsible if someone else were subjected to similar treatment by the suspect in the future.
According to the professor, his goal was to ensure that Shah realized his mistake and repented. Saki said he achieved this when the suspect expressed regret over his behavior. The professor added that, as a teacher, he did not consider it appropriate to take an uncompromising position.

Circumstances of the incident
The incident occurred on September 8, when Saki was travelling to the university in a car driven by his nephew. A minor road accident occurred near Safoora Chowrangi, during which the car was damaged.
When the professor demanded compensation for the repairs, he and his nephew were allegedly attacked and unlawfully detained by armed men, according to the publication. A case was subsequently opened and Shah was arrested.
Saki also reported that the suspect compensated for repairs to the car, which his nephew used as an online taxi. According to the professor, the owner of the vehicle was satisfied with the repair work.
