Eurozone trade surplus rose to €14.2 billion in July — Cyprus Mail
Cypriot Cyprus Mail reported that the eurozone's trade surplus in goods with the rest of the world amounted to €14.2 billion in July 2026. This was €3.5 billion higher than in July 2025, when the figure stood at €10.7 billion. In June 2026, the surplus was €7.2 billion.
Exports and imports in July
According to Eurostat's first estimates, eurozone goods exports to countries outside the bloc reached €276 billion in July, up 9% year on year. Imports rose by 7.9% to €261.8 billion.
The improvement in the trade balance was supported by a larger surplus in chemicals and related products, other manufactured goods, as well as food and beverages. At the same time, the surplus in machinery and transport equipment declined.

Results for seven months
Despite the July increase, the eurozone's cumulative surplus for January-July 2026 fell to €17 billion, compared with €92.8 billion in the same period of 2025. Exports outside the eurozone during this period rose by 1.2% to €1.76 trillion, while imports increased by 5.8% to €1.75 trillion. Intra-eurozone trade between member states grew by 5% to €1.65 trillion.
The European Union as a whole recorded an €8 billion goods trade surplus with countries outside the EU in July, lower than €9.8 billion a year earlier but higher than €2.4 billion in June. EU exports to countries outside the bloc rose by 7.8% to €247.1 billion, while imports increased by 9% to €239.1 billion.
In the first seven months of 2026, the EU shifted from a €84 billion surplus to a €13.8 billion deficit. During this period, exports declined by 0.6% to €1.57 trillion, while imports rose by 5.9% to €1.58 trillion. Intra-EU trade reached €2.58 trillion, up 6.1% from the first seven months of 2025.
