Polls in Slovakia: Fico’s party nearly level with the opposition
In Slovakia, the two most popular political forces—the opposition party Progressive Slovakia and Prime Minister Robert Fico’s Smer party—are polling at almost identical levels of support, according to an electoral model by the Ipsos agency for Denník N.
According to the survey, Progressive Slovakia would receive 20.6% of the vote in March, while Smer would secure 20%.
Sociologists note that the difference falls within the margin of error (approximately ±3%), meaning it is currently impossible to identify a clear leader.
Both parties have returned to support levels above 20%: Progressive Slovakia after a brief dip in February, and Smer following a longer period of declining support.
Other parties that would enter parliament include Republic (11.3%), Hlas (just over 8%), Hnutie Slovensko (7.9%), SaS (7.2%), KDH (6.3%), and Democrats (6%).
Fico also refused to sign the European Council’s conclusions on Ukraine due to the absence of any mention of the Druzhba oil pipeline.
He has further threatened Ukraine with measures over the suspension of Russian oil transit.
