Russia has threatened Austria with a harsh response over the expulsion of diplomats

The Russian side has announced its intention to respond “forcefully” to Austria following Vienna’s decision to expel three Russian diplomats. Moscow has described these actions as unfriendly moves and promised to take reciprocal measures.

This is stated in a statement by the Russian Embassy in Austria.

The Russian diplomatic mission called this move by the Austrian side “exclusively politically motivated.”

"Moscow’s strong response to these completely ill-considered actions by the Austrian side will undoubtedly follow shortly. All responsibility for the further deterioration of bilateral relations, which are already at their lowest point in modern history, lies entirely with Vienna," the Russian embassy noted.

Earlier, Britain revoked the accreditation of a Russian diplomat in response to Russia’s actions.

The British government is also introducing stricter controls on export licenses to block the supply of sanctioned goods to Russia via third countries. The new system will allow authorities to require manufacturers to obtain a license even for goods that previously did not require special permits, if there is suspicion that the destination country is aiding the aggressor.

The UK is warning of an increased threat of cyberattacks supported by the governments of certain countries.
