Riga to broadcast World Cleanup Day with Kyiv and Tallinn
On September 20, Riga, Latvia, will host an international broadcast of events for the ninth World Cleanup Day. Latvia will cooperate with Estonia and Ukraine: the global call center will operate in Tallinn, while the global media center will be located in Kyiv.
Broadcast from Riga
The global live broadcast center will operate in the Riga City Council building. The World Cleanup Day Village activity center will also be set up on Town Hall Square. The broadcast is scheduled for two time slots: from 11:00 to 14:00 and from 16:00 to 19:00 Latvian time.
Vita Jaunzeme, head of the Latvian organization Liela Talka, said that the broadcast from the Latvian capital is intended to recognize the many years of work by cleanup participants in Latvia and express solidarity with people in different countries who are joining efforts to protect the environment. Riga Mayor Viesturs Kleinbergs noted that people's ability to unite for joint work is one of the city's strengths.

Campaign goal
The goal of the ninth World Cleanup Day is to involve 5% of the world's population in actions for the planet. The campaign slogan is Strive for Five. Heidy Solba, president and head of the global Let’s Do It World network, stressed that the initiative seeks not only to collect waste that has already been created, but also to encourage people, businesses, schools and governments to cooperate, reduce the amount of waste, change consumption habits and strengthen communities.
Let’s Do It World is headquartered in Estonia. The network coordinates the environmental movement across more than 190 networks in different countries and territories, LSM English reports.
